Surroundings
Between the Velebit and the Adriatic: gorges, waterfalls, a farmers market straight out of the Middle Ages and an old town with 3,000 years of history. All within a day trip of our house, much of it with your dog.
Eat like the neighbours
In the konobas around the Karinsko More you get what the land provides: fish, lamb from the grill, olive oil and wine from farmers we know by name. If you like, we drive out to them with you, you taste and buy right at the farm. We offer these trips at an extra charge.

Mountains, gorges, water
Paklenica National Park
Two gorges cut from the sea high up into the Velebit. Climbers and hikers on wide paths below, the view over the Dalmatian islands above.
Karišnica
A small karst valley with a hiking trail along the river, past old mill ruins and a stone arch bridge. The spring lies in a cave you can walk into in summer. Quiet and shady.

Velebit and the Zrmanja Canyon
The Zrmanja rises on the southern edge of the Velebit, cuts turquoise-green through the karst and reaches the Novigrad Sea near Obrovac after almost 70 kilometres. Along the way: the Visoki Buk at the mouth of the Krupa, the largest waterfall of the river, plus Jankovića Buk and Veliki Buk, quiet bathing pools and the Krupa monastery.
The gorge was the backdrop for several Winnetou films. On the Pariževačka Glavica plateau a wooden board marks the filming location of Winnetou 1 and 3, with a view into the canyon.
On foot to Jankovića Buk
From Obrovac it is about four kilometres and an hour and a half to the first waterfall, a spot with ruined stone mills. Dogs may swim in the fresh water, and so may you in the pool below the fall.
Kudin Most
A centuries-old stone bridge over the Krupa, with a love story in its name and crystal-clear water below. One of the most beautiful places in the area, and one of the quietest.

The farmers market in Benkovac
Every 10th of the month, since the late Middle Ages: cheese, ham, honey, oil, tools. In summer a bustle of languages and smells, with food and music. You should experience it once.

Zadar
The old town lies on a peninsula and is an open-air museum: Roman forum, medieval walls and gates, at the tip the Sea Organ and the square "Greeting to the Sun". In between, cafés where you can forget the time. Almost 80,000 people live here, and you can tell the city likes having guests.

And more
The Krka waterfalls make a good day trip, Biograd na Moru is a lovely harbour town for eating and strolling. The rest we tell you on site, depending on what you feel like.
